Srinagar, Dec 07 (KNO): The ruling party—National Conference (NC) on Saturday said that there was no tussle between the Lieutenant Governor-led administration and the elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. The also party said that it hopes for early restoration of statehood to end dual-power system in the Union Territory. NC spokesman and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), told media persons that it needs to be understood that J&K at present is a Union Territory and at the same time there is now an elected government. He said that those speaking about tussle actually want to create problems between the LG administration and the elected government. As a spokesman of NC, I want to tell you that as far as the LG administration and elected government is concerned, there has been no major problem so far. But if any internal issue is there, it will be resolved, he said. The party spokesman further said that they want an end to the dual power system and since the elected government took over, there is a positive atmosphere. “Hopefully, the statehood will be restored and the dual power system will end and redressal of public grievances will speed up,” he said, adding that at present public issues are being resolved by the elected government only. He said that he is optimistic that LG administration and the officers should understand that statehood will be restored today or tomorrow, and that they should listen to the elected government. Sadiq was reacting to reports about the tussle between the elected government and LG administration in Jammu and Kashmir following transfer of officers in the Union Territory. Furthermore, the NC MLA assured that promise of 200 units of free electricity to the consumers will be fulfilled after two-three months. “Our priority is to ensure adequate electricity to the people with no unscheduled power cuts and this decision at this juncture would end up in further curtailments. Therefore, the promise of 200 units of free electricity will be fulfilled after two-three months,” he said. Also, the modalities like deserving and undeserving consumers in this regard will be done later, he said, adding that in the non-metered areas, consumers may witness reduction in electricity tariff. The NC spokesperson also stated that promise regarding gas cylinders will also be fulfilled as the issue has been taken up already—(KNO)
